What a magazine media kit needs
An advertiser wants four things: who reads your magazine, how many of them there are, what they can buy and what it costs. This generator puts those on two pages, with your audience numbers first and one clear way to book at the end.
Say where your numbers came from
Label each figure and give its source and date. If 1,140 people opened the last issue, write 1,140. An advertiser who later sees a smaller number in their own report will remember that you rounded up.
If your magazine is new, use what you have: your member count, your email list, the attendance at your last event. Say the magazine is new and offer to send a results report after the first ad runs.
How to save it as a PDF
Press "Save as PDF" and choose Save as PDF in your browser's print window. If you see headers and footers from the browser, or the colours are missing, look under More settings: turn headers and footers off and background graphics on. If you'd rather edit it in Word or Google Docs, "Copy as text" gives you the whole kit to paste in.
Questions
How long should a media kit be?
Two to four pages. Advertisers skim, so put your audience and your prices where they can find them in under a minute.
Do I need a designer to make a media kit?
No. Accurate numbers and clear prices matter far more than fancy layout.
What if I don't have prices yet?
Use the magazine ad rate calculator first. Your rate card is saved in this browser, and the generator can pull it in with one click.
Should I put prices in the media kit?
Yes, unless you sell almost everything by custom quote. Advertisers who can't see a price often move on rather than ask.
Can I remove the Zeenly credit?
Yes. Untick "Show a small credit to Zeenly" and it disappears from the PDF. Leaving it on is a nice way to say thanks.
Do you see what I type in?
No. The kit is built in your browser, including your logo, and nothing you type is sent to Zeenly. This page doesn't load our analytics or ad tracking either.
