How to embed a digital magazine on your website (copy-and-paste snippet)

2 min read

Putting your magazine on your own site keeps members in your space. It also means a visitor can read the latest issue without leaving the page.

What you need

  • A published issue. Drafts don't embed for the public.
  • The reader link for the issue, or the platform's embed code.
  • Edit access to a page on your website.
  • A place where your site allows custom HTML.

The snippet

Most platforms give you something like this. Replace the address with your own.

<iframe
  src="https://zeenly.com/p/your-magazine/your-issue"
  title="Autumn 2026 issue of Your Magazine"
  width="100%"
  height="700"
  style="border:0"
  loading="lazy"
  allowfullscreen>
</iframe>
<p><a href="https://zeenly.com/p/your-magazine/your-issue">Open the magazine in a new page</a></p>

The link underneath helps anyone for whom the embed doesn't load, and it helps people using a screen reader.

Add it to your page

WordPress. Add a "Custom HTML" block and paste the snippet.

Squarespace. Add a "Code" block, paste and untick "Display source".

Wix. Use "Embed code" and choose "Embed HTML".

Other builders. Look for a block called HTML, embed or code.

If your builder only accepts a URL, try its "Embed" or "Video" block, which often allows any page.

Size it

  • Width: 100% so it fills the column.
  • Height: 600 to 800 pixels works for most pages. On a phone, give it more height so readers can scroll less.
  • Full width: put it in a wide section rather than a narrow column.

Test it

  1. Open the page on a desktop.
  2. Open it on a phone.
  3. Turn pages, zoom, click a link.
  4. Open in a private browser window to see what a visitor sees.

If it doesn't show

  • Blank box: the issue may be unpublished. Check its status.
  • Refused to connect: your site or the platform may set a security header that blocks frames. Check the platform's help or ask support.
  • The builder strips the code: some free plans don't allow custom HTML. Use a link button instead.

Around the embed

Write a few sentences above it: what's in this issue, the three best articles, the date. It helps readers, and it gives search engines text to read. Why that matters.

Keep it current

When you publish the next issue, update the page. Or keep a "Latest issue" page and an archive page of past issues.

Frequently asked questions

What is an iframe?

An iframe is a window on your page that shows another web page inside it. It's how most flipbooks are embedded.

Why isn't my embed showing?

The commonest causes are the issue being a private draft, your website builder blocking custom HTML, or a security setting on your site that stops frames. Check each in turn.

Will embedding hurt my site speed?

A single iframe is light if you set it to load when scrolled into view. Avoid several large embeds on one page.

Does embedding help search?

Not much. Search engines don't read the contents of the flipbook as part of your page. Add text around it that describes the issue.
